Hello Everyone! Over the last year, I have been diving deep into learning to crochet. My latest creation is this Easy Raglan Cardigan Crochet Pattern. This is a free pattern from YayForYarn and uses Touch of Alpaca from Lions Brand. This is a beginner friendly pattern that is worked from the top down in one piece. It has a v-neck button ribbing that gives it a very preppy polished look. This cardigan is very similar to Simple Chunky Cardigan I did a while back, except this Easy Raglan Cardigan is way easier in my opinion.
The color I chose for this cardigan is Goldenrod. It is a mustard yellow. I think it’s the perfect color to pair with a casual pair of blue jeans for the fall or the spring. The yarn is super soft and drapes really nicely. Sorry, I should have taken a picture with the cardigan on so you could see how it flows. I also decided to add big 28mm brown buttons to get that a preppy college look.
This Easy Raglan Crochet Cardigan can be done in a weekend. It uses beginner single and double crochet stitches to give a nice weighted texture. The only tricky part for me was the ribbing. You have to ensure the ribbing is lined up neatly to the cardigan so that it sits flat. I had to unravel a few times to get it right.
Also, I the ribbing on the cuff gives the cardigan a snug feel which I like. I also didn’t add a pocket but you definitely can add one of two. Check out how pockets might look from the Simple Chunky Cardigan.
Well, there you have it! I hope you guys get going on this for the spring. It’s definitely a conversation starter with your creative friends.
Happy Sewing!
