I recently did a tutorial for Riley Blake Cutting Corners Blog using this stunning Mod Studio by Holli Zollinger fabric collection. I am in love with the pattern designs and color variations. The patterns come in abstracts and florals on a soft white or gray background. It is so versatile. The designs work really well with each other. I had a fun time mixing and matching the fabrics to create these pillow shams. I decided to do the half square triangle (HST) pattern because I think it really highlights each fabric pattern well. The tutorial is for a standard pillow size sham (20×30). I decided to add ruffles on the edge for a classic look. I used standard white cotton for the ruffles and envelope back.
I really liked how the four fabric choices complimented each other in this sham. The bold big red and black florals stands out lightly sparse vine pattern.
The tutorial follows a simple HST pattern using 4.5″ squares of four fabric designs. It takes about 1/4″ yard of each fabric to create a standard size. Here is a PDF Download of the tutorial so you can make one of these pretty shams for your bed or as a gift.
