For my daughter’s 2nd birthday, I decided to do a Sesame Street theme since that’s what she seems to be into these days. I followed the this tutorial. I purchased this sesame street fabric from Fabric.com. I made my own binding using this video. I decided not to do the collars as used in the tutorial. Instead, I added blue lace all around the neck. I used coordinating turquoise (cookie monster blue( for the binding on the sleeves and the bottom. And I topped it off with a small flower in the middle.
Here is a variation of the dress. I made it with whatever fabric was left over. Its the same pattern but instead of doing knots on of the binding on the sleeves, I did a simple elastic sleeve. I just add binding at the end of the sleeves and run 1/4 inch elastic in each one. For the neck, instead of doing the lace like the one above, i did a pleat. I just folded a long strip of fabric (1 inch width) every 1 inch or so and sew down the middle all around the neck. Here is the final product!
