The Stitching Scientist

    The Pleated Sundress

    Children· Dresses

    30 Jul

This was one of my very first sewing projects. Its a copy a gapkids design and was done by the Crafterhours blog. You can find the tutorial here. For my dress, I used about 1 yard of red and white flowers fabric from Keepsake Calico. I double pleated the bottom and only shirred 3/4 way at the back instead of the entire back like the tutorial states. Its a fun dress and my daughter loves it!

For the box pleats, I watched this video. The tutorial from Crafterhours also did a good job at explaining but as a beginner sometimes it helps to look at the instructions instead of reading.

Here is a link on how to shirr using elastic thread. I thought it was going to be hard but it turned to be pretty simple.

I will try and do a tutorial of this soon for you guys.
